Transfer Credits

Transfer credit can be awarded for associate and bachelor's degree programs. Transfer credit is not available for certificate programs.

  • All courses to be considered for transfer credit must be approved by the Program Dean and/or Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) The Program Dean and/or VPASA may designate faculty within the discipline to review courses for approval.
  • An official transcript from the previous college or university that reflects the final grade of the course must be on record for transfer credit to be granted. A transcript is considered official if it is mailed or hand-delivered to Labouré College of Healthcare in a sealed envelope. The official transcript will include the college or university official seal and signature of the Registrar. Electronic transcripts are accepted if sent directly from the previous college or university or through a third party on behalf of the previous college or university (i.e., Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, etc.).
  • Transfer credit is only awarded from regionally accredited colleges or universities.
  • Labouré College of Healthcare may enter articulation agreements with other accredited colleges or universities to award transfer credit for courses.
  • Exceptions to the Transfer Credit policy can be made on an individual basis if deemed appropriate. All exceptions must be approved by the Program Dean and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, or as outlined in the College Catalog.

Please note: not all courses are transferable to Labouré College of Healthcare, so it is strongly recommended that you speak with an Academic Advisor in the Student Success Center (studentsuccess@laboure.edu) before registering for courses at another college.

Incoming Student Transfer Credit

An official transfer credit evaluation will be completed, if requested, after an incoming student's enrollment deposit has been received. If a student is eligible for VA benefits, they should email Registrar@laboure.edu to discuss transfer credit before submitting an enrollment deposit.

Prior to paying the enrollment deposit, an unofficial transfer credit evaluation can be requested by contacting the Admissions Office at admissions@laboure.edu

A student may request an additional transfer credit evaluation for courses taken prior to beginning their program at Labouré College of Healthcare if they did not receive transfer credit for a course during their official evaluation by the Program Dean and/or VPASA. The Request for Additional Transfer Credit is available online at my.laboure.edu and must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar at registrar@laboure.edu along with a course description or syllabus.

A student seeking transfer credit for a course that they are currently registered in at Labouré College of Healthcare must submit the Request for Additional Transfer Credit at least two weeks prior to the first day of classes for that semester.

Continuing Student Transfer Credit

A student may transfer up to seven (7) credits from regionally accredited colleges or universities after they begin their program at Labouré College of Healthcare. Students must submit a Continuing Student Transfer Credit Request Form to the Office of the Registrar at registrar@laboure.edu along with a copy of the course description and/or syllabus. The Office of the Registrar will submit completed request forms to the Program Dean and/or Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs who may designate a faculty member in the course discipline to review the transfer course equivalency. Once a decision has been made, the student will be contacted via email.

This process must be followed prior to the start of a student taking their desired course outside of Labouré College of Healthcare.

Once the course taken at an outside college or university is complete, an official transcript including final course grade must be sent to the Office of the Registrar. The student's program requirement will remain incomplete until the transfer credit is completed and posted to the student's official record. If the course being taken for transfer credit is a prerequisite for a Labouré College of Healthcare course, the transcript must be received and verified before a student enrolls in the requisite or co-requisite course.

Residency Requirement

To be awarded a degree, all students must complete a minimum of 30 credits at Labouré College of Healthcare regardless of the number of transfer credits awarded.

*Policy on Transfer of Science Courses More than Five Years Old

Students who have taken a 4-credit, laboratory course in Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy & Physiology II, and/or Microbiology at a regionally accredited college/university more than five years ago calculated at the point of the start term/matriculation have the following options:

(a) Retake the course(s) at Labouré College of Healthcare and earn a C+ in the course.

(b) Retake the course(s) at a regionally accredited institution and earn a C+ in both the course and the lab (if graded separately). NOTE: Students who enroll at Labouré College of Healthcare are limited to seven (7) transfer credits post-matriculation.

(c) If they earned a C+ or higher in the course and lab (if graded separately), they may demonstrate mastery of course content by completing an equivalent course and lab through an approved partner. Equivalent courses offered by an approved partner will be evaluated by discipline faculty and recommended by the appropriate Dean to the VPASA. Those who choose to demonstrate mastery by taking courses through an approved partner will be responsible for paying the course fees, sending official partner transcripts to the Admissions Office, and earning the equivalent of a C+ grade in the course and lab (if graded separately).

Courses considered for transfer credit must be equivalent to those offered at the College in terms of nature, content, level, and number of credits earned.
